Introduction

Fuller-Design is concerned with modernity in style, design through function and contemporary living. The creation of the unique materials used in this latest collection establishes a co-operation in aesthetics and simplistic form, whilst fundamentally setting new values of functiionality and industrial processes.

The current body of work is an exploration in challenging the appearance, characteristics and physical qualities of materials. By integrating materials together I have modified the characteristics of both, creating one material that interacts with its two ingredients, to form new attributes.

The work utilises traditional furniture construction methods and techniques - whilst concentrating on contemporary and unique creations.

Techno Chintz

Techno Chintz is a contemporary piece of domestic installation work.

It's laser-etched panel of live-edged fluorescent acrylic embodies the traditional characteristics of chintz wallcoverings - reworked.

Set in a traditional fretwork wooden frame which has been plasticated, the piece is a juxtaposition of the historical and modern.

Live Ekco

Live Ekco combines laser-etched acrylic harnessed in a frame made completly from recycled steel.

The laser-etched image is the circuit board diagram from an Ekco A320 wireless radio created in 1950. This piece celebrates the bygone technology of analogue frequency radio recievers that will be rendered useless after the digital switch over.

Lacetex Screens

Lacetex is a combination of lace and latex. The fabrication of the two mediums together creates a translucent and detailed material which changes apperance in varying light.

The latex in the screens provides great flexability and movement within the material which in addition to it's tactile feel makes it incredibly versatile.

The varying degrees of pigmentation surrounding the lace, adds to the refraction of light and patterns of shadows cast. The screens react to natural light in different ways at different times of the day, depending on their positioning and angle, whilst also providing a diffused element of privacy.

In the environment shown the simulation of light within the screens has been moderated to emphsise their morphing qualities.
